Quins shoot down Flamingo's 37-10

In was a dreary April day, and everyone was expecting the snow that plagues every Ft Collins-Harlequin match. As game time rolled around though, the sun took control of the sky, and the Quins took control of the pitch.

From the kickoff, it was obvious this would be a forwards' affair. The Flamingo backs were fast up in their defense, but the Quin forwards were quick in support. As the men in scarlet and blue marched decisively down the field, the Flamingos surrendered a penalty rather than a try. That effort kept it scoreless for an additional 10 seconds, when running off a set play, tighthead Rich Matteucci set a ruck and 8man John Tweardy dove over on the second phase ball.

The Flamingos struck back, and after a pair of broken tackles, they were able to briefly tie the game with an unconverted try. The Quin forwards dominated the loose, gaining a foothold 5 meters out from the ingoal, where the Flamingos infringed offside. Spinning the ball wide, wing Rich Kindell, dotted down in the corner for a second try.

As gusting winds had prevented fly half Dustin Ruehle from converting either of the tries, he decided to put some additional points on the board by taking the ball across the line after a deceptive dummy pass opened a hole in midfield.

The second half saw 2 more forward tries, as openside John Trussler scored off of a lineout, and Tweardy took over another try from a scrummage 5meters out. The final try was pure speed from Kindell, dashing 60meters to score it.
