The Quins won their first league match, taking a second match from the Colorado Springs Grizzlies in as many weeks. The match was a back and forth affair, with the Grizzlies coverting on Quin mistakes. The Quins stuck to their game pattern, and won the day based on the discipline of their game style.

Scoring was led off with captain Dave Hull breaking down the sideline from a scrummage, and dotting the ball down under the posts. Hull would later repeat the feat on the other side of the scrum, after scooping a ball kicked through a Springs scrum by hooker Dan Hattrup.

Rob Kuck marked his return to Quin league play by dotting a ball down after some intense loose play to give the lead for the final time to the Quins.

The most exciting try of the day came as Hattrup collected a loose ball at the Quin 40, passed it back to Hull, who chipped ahead into the open field. Fullback Kregg Hyer chased it down, with opposition players close behind. Hyer slidetackled onto the ball at the 22, kicking it into the ingoal area, where flanker (and fitness freak) Jon Trussler was able to beat the opposition wing to touch down directly under the posts.

The game, however, was carried on the foot of flyhalf Dustin Ruhle, who was perfect on the day, converting all 4 tries and slotting two penalties, as the Quins won 34-28.
