Harlequins vs Queen City
Interactive Roster Match Report Match Photos
The second side match was an opportunity for some of our new players to get
some exposure to the game, even if a few of them did have to pull on the
orange and black to fill in along with half of City's first side.
Highlights of the match:
Fullback Kregg Hyer opened the scoring with a 60meter run through most of
City's opposition. He would later repeat this in the second half, tacking
on another 20meters. A high kick from inside our 22 was collected by Hyer
outside their 22, and the wing was left in the dust. His other two tries
were just the boring "around the corner, too fast to catch" stuff we've come
to expect. I guess the hamstring has healed up alright.
The wing wasn't having a good day, as flyhalf Michael Smith darted through a
gap at our 10meter line, with only the wing to beat. Smith has apparently
been learning something from his roommate Rich Kindel, as he left the wing
on the deck, to jog in under the posts.
Also of note, were 3 tries coming from the flankers, Mike Tompkins (2x) and
Graeme Leach. Only conversion of the match by Ed Durica.
Final 42-20
Tries: Hyer (4), Leach, Smith, Tompkins (2)
Conversion: Durica
