The Quins made the trek to the people's republic of Boulder, and were given a chilly reception by the gale force chinook winds howling off the front range. As soon as the backs had grown accustomed to the ball knuckling through the wind, the game was on.

Staunch pressure from the visitors led to a handling mistake 10meters out from the Boulder line, and after the ensuing scrum, a series of quick hands from the backs lead to the opening score by recent acquisition Dana Dietz, who dove into the corner.

As the Quins found themselves back in their half, scrumhalf Ryan Hurley stepped inside the sliding defense and darted 30 meters break, and passing on to John Kosanovich who carried into the opponents 22. Of note was the captain's ability to post the ball at the 40, while being tackled in the 22. Recovered well by Joe Biss, and brought through 2 phases of loose play, the ball was spun out to Dietz on the blindside, who darted in for his second try of the day.

Continued pressure from the attacking Quins brought penalty after penalty from the home team, finally leading to a 5meter confrontation. As the ball was set by tighthead Rich Matteucci, the flankers began to line up for their glory. Kosanovich was held up a meter short of the line, making short work for 8man Scott McDill, diving over the line by the posts.

The half ended with a score of 19-3, as Boulder had kicked a penalty in the horrendous winds.

The second half started with the wind calming down, and the rugby heating up. A back and forth affair led to Boulder touching down in the 20th minute of the half, after a series of good rucks from the home team.

The Quins were unable to answer until the final moments of the game, when a series of penalties marched them to the 5m line of Boulder again. A dummy to the crashing front rows followed by a spin pass to flanker Joe Biss brought a maul that was quickly driven to the line, where Biss was able to ground it for the final score at the final whistle.
