The Harlequin second side carried on the tradition of the first team by
chalking up their first win of the season. The score was opened by young
addition Adam Dagmit, slotting a sideline penalty after a great break by the
wing and fullback.
Next up was the return of old boy David Lausa, who stepped through the
middle of the Queen City defense and ran untouched to under the posts. A
final first half try was scored by returning fullback, Kregg Hyer, who burst
a solid 80meters, weaving in and out of traffic, leaving the QC fullback
flat footed as he finished off in the middle of the in-goal.
The second half began with a penalty from an anomaly of the rugby world --
the kicking front row. Prop Michael Jackson slotted a kick from the right
side 15m line. After another 30 minutes of rugby, Hyer returned a kick
60meters through traffic, sidestepping his way, only to be dragged down with
a collar grab 2 meters short of the goal. A deserved penalty try was
awarded, and the game finished at 25-12.
