Denver Harlequins
The Harlequins enjoyed their first match on the new sod at Cook park, with a
victory over Queen City. In a stop and start affair, it was a game til the
last minute ranging up and down the paddock.
The Quins opened scoring after a lineout steal by captain John Kosanovich.
As the ball was quickly moved through the hands, speedster Dave Hull marked
his return to league play with a converted try in the corner. The teams
then exchanged penalty kicks and went to the half.
The second half saw a number of kickable penalties passed over for the
attempt to score a try. However, the Quins proved to be their own worst
enemies as the ball would be knocked on, or possession lost through our own
penalties. One quick tap was successful with man-of-the-match Joe Biss
stepping inside one tackler, and powering through 3 more to reach over the
line and score the Quins second (and final) try of the game.
Queen City answered with a try at the whistle after a series of penalties
inside the Harlequin 5m line to bring the final score to 15-13 in favor of
the Quins.
