Fall 1997 Denver Harlequins Invade Texas

Ft. Worth, Tex. -- The Quins just returned from Ft Worth, bringing home a second place victory over four of the best teams in Texas. Saturday started out with 30 point victories over Arlington and the Austin Huns. Our last game of the day was against Woodlands RFC, the #2 team in the West. After falling behind in the early going, the Quins dug deep to produce a victory, 15-5. Sunday began with a tight game against Fort Hood, a perennial powerhouse in the TRFU, the Quins, once again fought out of a two penalty deficit to win the game 18-6. The clouds beginning to cover the Ft Worth skies portended ill for the mighty Quins. We were facing the hosts in the final match, and the four games we had played in the past 2 days took their toll on us as we fell to the defending champions of the Cowtown kickoff classic.
